IN-PERSON AND ONLINE SERVICES

IN-PERSON SERVICES

  • In-person library services encompass a range of offerings and resources provided within the physical library facility, including reference and information services where library staff assist clients with research inquiries, library instruction sessions to enhance information literacy, inter/intra-library loans, and document delivery services facilitating access to materials beyond the library’s collection, and selective dissemination of information programs that deliver customized content to clients.

LIBRARY HOURS

  1. The library is open Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and may vary depending on the opening classes.
  2. Closed during holidays and special non-working holidays.

WHO MAY USE THE LIBRARY SPACES?

  1. Bonafide students of Norzagaray College with Library ID validated by the librarian.
  2. Teaching Personnel / School Administration and staff/ School Alumni.
  3. Outside researchers with a referral letter from their school of origin.

REFERENCE AND INFORMATION SERVICES

  • It is administered at the reference circulation desk. The librarian welcomes questions and inquiries from library clients for the identification and location of such documents and information.

CIRCULATION SERVICES

  • The library client has the privilege to browse and borrow library materials following the library rules and regulations. Loaning and returning of library materials is done at the charging desk. A library client must register first at the registration counter before borrowing.

Student Loans

  1. A student can borrow a maximum of three (3) books for library room use only. If the student wishes to take the books out for photocopy, to be used in the classroom, or for overnight use, the student will only be allowed two (2) books at a time.
  2. Photocopying of articles and excerpts from books may be allowed for personal or private use. Provisions of the copyright law will be followed. (Republic Act No. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines)
  3. Borrowing of books and request for renewal of loaned books must be upon the approval of the librarian.
  4. Books labeled with “NOT FOR HOME USE” are exclusively for library room use only.
  5. Non-book materials such as maps, globe, pictures, periodicals, and others may be borrowed by the student for classroom use upon the approval of the librarian.
  6. Borrowing of books/library materials on behalf of someone is prohibited.
  7. Books/library materials for overnight use will not be allowed one week before the final examination.
  8. Students who have overdue books may not be allowed to borrow any materials until they settle their obligations.
  9. Fiction books may be borrowed for one week, however, subject to renewal if the reference material is not in demand.
  10. General Reference materials must be read inside the library only.

Teaching Personnel Loans

  1. A non-teaching personnel can borrow a maximum of five (5) books for library room use and a maximum of two (2) books for home use.
  2. A maximum of 7 days can be allowed for book loans.
  3. Borrowing books or library materials on behalf of someone is prohibited.
  4. Books or library materials for home use will not be allowed one week before the final examination.
  5. A non-teaching personnel with overdue books may not be allowed to borrow any materials until they settle their obligations.
  6. For contractual non-teaching personnel, an introduction letter must be submitted to the library, duly signed by the head of the office to whom they are reporting.

Non-Teaching Loans

  1. A non-teaching personnel can borrow a maximum of three (3) books for library room use and a maximum of three (3) books for home use.
  2. A maximum of 30 days can be allowed for book loans.
  3. Borrowing books or library materials on behalf of someone is prohibited
  4. Books or library materials for home use will not be allowed one week before the final examination.
  5. Teaching personnel with overdue books may not be allowed to borrow any materials until they settle their obligations.
  6. A clearance must be signed at the end of the semester to clear library accountabilities. Once signed, the teaching personnel will no longer be allowed to borrow books.
  7. For part-time teaching personnel, an introduction letter must be submitted to the library, duly signed by the academic dean to whom they are reporting.

OUTSIDE RESEARCHERS

  1. Outside researchers must secure a referral letter addressed to the librarian from the institution where they are enrolled.
  2. A researcher can borrow a maximum of three (3) books for library room use only.
  3. Photocopying of articles and excerpts from books may be allowed for personal or private use with the approval of the librarian. The provisions of the copyright law will be followed (Republic Act No. 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines).
  4. Books for overnight use are not allowed.
  5. Researchers are required to obey all rules and regulations implemented in the library.

RESERVE SERVICES

  • These services allow clients to reserve books and other library materials with limited copies upon the approval of the librarian for future use.
  • Reserve services in the library provide a convenient and equitable means for borrowers and faculty to access high-demand course materials, such as textbooks, readings, or supplementary resources. These materials, often in limited supply, are placed on reserve by instructors and made available for short-term borrowing within the library.

BORROWING SERVICES

Borrowing Books
  1. Present Library ID to the personnel in charge.
  2. Inquire for the information of the book or visit the OPAC of the library.
  3. If the book is available, the call number will be given to identify its location. The librarian may refer to other references if the exact title is not available.
  4. The book card must be filled out by the student before the book can be released to the borrower.
  5. Overnight books must be returned on the due date written on the book card.

Returning Books

  1. Books to be returned must be in good condition
  2. The borrower who fails to inform the librarian of the extension of use and returns the borrowed book/library material on its due date is subject to penalty. An amount of Php 5.00 per day extension will be applied..
    • Reserve books (P10.00 per day)
    • Circulation books and Fiction books (P5.00 per day)

    Lost/misplaced/damaged books should be reported immediately to stop the fines that can be charged to the borrower. The borrower should replace the lost item with the same title, author, and copyright date and is given 15 working days to settle his/her accountabilities. If the lost item is outdated and no longer available in bookstores, the borrower can replace it with the latest edition or another title with an equivalent topic and value or field of interest that is available in stores. As much as possible, the librarian should try to avoid monetary transactions in implementing such regulation of replacing lost items.

LIBRARY CURRENT AWARENESS SERVICES

  • These services involve regularly updated information, allowing library patrons to keep their knowledge up to date and access the most recent and relevant information. This includes alerts about recently acquired books and notifications of pertinent articles, conference proceedings, or ongoing events. The library will post up-to-date information about its services and other announcements on the available online platform and the library bulletin board.
COMPUTER AND WEB SEARCH SERVICES

The library provides a computer workstation where library clients can do their computer work and search for online information via the Internet. The following must be observed upon using the computer:

  1. Submit the Library ID to the librarian and log your name on the computer log sheet.
  2. Use the computer with extra care. Any damage that may occur to the computer is the client’s responsibility.
  3. Approach the librarian if you have any technical concerns about the computer.
  4. Internet usage is for research purposes only.
  5. Always keep the computer area clean.
  6. Remember to back up and save your files; all files stored will be erased upon restarting.
  7. The librarian reserves the right to limit computer usage to accommodate other clients.

LIBRARY ORIENTATION

  • The in-person library orientation is conducted at the start of the school year as part of the institutional orientation. It aims to introduce students to the library services offered and provide them with an in-depth understanding of the library’s functions.

REFERRAL LETTER

  • Students who wish to conduct research at other libraries may request a referral letter from the librarian, addressed to the librarian of the library they intend to visit. Requests should be made at least one day before the planned visit. Students using the other library facilities are expected to adhere to the rules and regulations of the school or office being visited.

ONLINE SERVICES

  • The library’s online services have redefined the way library clients engage with knowledge and information. In an era where information is readily accessible through digital platforms, NCL has adapted to provide a wealth of online resources and support. Whether accessing e-books, requesting virtual assistance, or participating in digital learning initiatives, the online services are designed to enhance the educational and research journey of library clients. The following are the available online services offered by the NCL:

ACCESS TO EBOOKS AND E-JOURNALS COLLECTION

  • Officially enrolled students and NC personnel can access the collection online. The link is available and can be found on the official Facebook Page of NCL. Password to access the e-books shall be provided by the librarian upon request.
  • E-Books and E-Journals are for academic and research purposes only, and clients should comply with copyright and licensing agreements. Unauthorized downloading or distribution of e-books is strictly prohibited.

DOCUMENT SCANNING

  • Scanning documents is available with strict adherence to the REPUBLIC ACT No. 8293, THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY CODE via email library@norzagaraycollege.edu.ph or may send a message to http://facebook.com/NorzagarayCollegeLibrary.
  • Clients should respect copyright laws and restrictions when requesting document scans. Scanned documents should not be used for commercial purposes.

ONLINE ANNOUNCEMENTS/DIGITAL LEARNING SUPPORT

  • NCL has collated resources to help teaching personnel and students with remote instruction such as making materials accessible, locating multimedia, and available electronic resources, and meeting copyright standards which can be accessed through http://facebook.com/NorzagarayCollegeLibrary.
  • In addition, announcements and updates regarding library services, activities, new acquisitions, various links to informative articles, OERs, and other valuable information can be found on the NC Library Facebook page. Clients are expected to use these resources responsibly and to respect intellectual property rights. Disruptive behavior or misuse of online platforms for announcements will not be tolerated.

VIRTUAL LIBRARY CLIENT ORIENTATION

  • The Virtual Library Client Orientation will be available through the online platform provided by the library. This serves as a pathway to unlocking the full potential of the library’s services and resources from the comfort of the library client’s own space. The online orientation program includes a series of informative videos designed to guide you on how to maximize your library experience. From discovering how to borrow books and access e-resources to using library computers effectively, these videos are your key to becoming a self-sufficient library client.

VIRTUAL ASSISTANCE

  • Virtual assistance is available for client queries and research support. The client may send a message via Facebook Page:
  • http://facebook.com/NorzagarayCollegeLibrary or send an email to library@norzagaraycollege.edu.ph. Clients are encouraged to maintain respectful conduct during virtual interactions with library staff.

ONLINE BOOK REQUEST

  • Students, teaching and non-teaching personnel may send their book suggestions and purchase recommendations through the online fill-out form provided by the librarian, via the library’s Facebook Page at http://facebook.com/NorzagarayCollegeLibrary, or by sending an email to library@norzagaraycollege.edu.ph.
